LALIVE promotes four arbitration practitioners to Counsel

The firm is delighted to announce the promotion of Catherine Anne Kunz, Lorraine de Germiny, David Guerra Bonifacio and Christophe Guibert de Bruet, all from the Arbitration Practice Group to Counsel on 1 January 2018.

Catherine Anne Kunz is dual-qualified in Switzerland and in England and Wales and specialises in international commercial arbitration, in particular in the energy, telecommunications and construction sectors.  She first joined the firm in 2010 and re-joined in early 2016, after working at the international arbitration group of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Floms in London in 2014-15. Catherine is a member of the editorial board of the ASA Bulletin and is active as regional representative (Europe) for the LCIA Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG). At the firm, she is active as a member of the APG Organising Committee and the LALIVE Women’s Network Steering Committee. Catherine graduated magna cum laude from the University of Fribourg, after having spent one year as an exchange student at the Humboldt University in Berlin. She speaks English, French and German.

Lorraine de Germiny joined the firm in 2014 after several years of practice in New York and Paris with King & Spalding. She specialises in both investment and international commercial arbitration and has been involved in a variety of disputes arising in the sectors of energy, construction, real estate, and mining.  Lorraine is a dual U.S. and French national and a member of the New York and Paris bars. She holds an LL.M. from Columbia Law School, a J.D. cum laude from Tulane Law School and a Licence from the University of Rennes. In the past few years, Lorraine has been active in ArbitralWomen, of which she was a Board member for two years, and the under-40 group of the Comité Français de l’Arbitrage (CFA-40) which she co-chaired from 2014 to 2017. She speaks English, French and Spanish.

David Guerra Bonifacio joined the firm as an associate in 2010, after completing an internship at the firm in 2008-09. He is a Portuguese and Brazilian attorney and specialises in both investment and international commercial arbitration, as well as public international law. Over the years, David has acted as counsel in numerous arbitrations in a wide range of industry sectors, especially oil and gas, mining and telecommunications, in Latin America, Africa and elsewhere. He has also been active in developing the firm’s Portuguese speaking client base. David holds a Master in International Dispute Settlement from the University of Geneva and a Master degree in Law (summa cum laude) from the Catholic University Law School, Lisbon, for which he received several merit scholarships and prizes. He speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Italian and German.

Christophe Guibert de Bruet joined the firm in 2012, having first practiced for several years with Dewey & LeBoeuf in Washington D.C. and Paris, and King & Spalding in Paris. He is a member of the bars of New York, Washington D.C., Paris and the Supreme Court of the United States and specializes in both investment and international commercial arbitration, with a focus on infrastructure construction projects. Prior to starting his legal career, Christophe co-founded and operated an software company specializing in factory controls and embedded control systems. Christophe holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from the University of Virginia. He speaks English, French and Spanish.

The firm’s arbitration practice, which continues to grow, is now composed of 43 full time arbitration practitioners, and currently advises on a wide range of commercial and investment arbitrations worldwide.
