Joachim Knoll est associé de LALIVE et est spécialisé en arbitrage international, aussi bien commercial que d’investissement, depuis 1999. Il a participé en qualité de conseil ou d’arbitre à plus de 70 arbitrages internationaux, tant dans des procédures ad hoc (règlement de la CNUDCI) que sous l’égide de diverses institutions (CCI, CIRDI, Chambres suisses, LCIA, DIAC, AAA/ICDR, SCC, DIS) et soumis à divers droits de procédure et de fond, dont les droits suisse, allemand, anglais, français, turc et de New York. Son expérience porte sur les principaux aspects des transactions commerciales, notamment sur les litiges relatifs à la vente internationale de marchandises et à la distribution, aussi bien que sur les litiges relatifs aux investissements, en particulier dans les domaines de la construction, de l’énergie, de l’exploitation minière, des télécommunications, de la radiodiffusion et de l’aviation.

Me Knoll conseille également les clients de l’Etude en matière d’arbitrage, notamment sur la rédaction de clauses d’arbitrage, les recours contre les sentences arbitrales ainsi que leur reconnaissance et leur exécution. En outre, il conseille les gouvernements en matière de négociation de traités d’investissement, aussi bien que les investisseurs sur la structuration de leurs investissements afin de leur garantir une protection efficace.

Joachim Knoll a été membre de la Cour d’arbitrage de la Swiss Chambers’ Arbitration Institution qui administre les arbitrages soumis au Règlement suisse d’arbitrage international (Swiss Rules) et co-président d’ASA below 40 (Association Suisse de l’Arbitrage) de 2010 à 2012. Il est également maître de conférence et membre du conseil académique de l’Académie Suisse de l’Arbitrage (Swiss Arbitration Academy).

Depuis 1999, Me Knoll a exercé dans le domaine de l’arbitrage chez Shearman & Sterling à Paris (1999-2006), chez LALIVE (2006-2008) et chez Brown&Page à Genève (2008-2012). Il a étudié aux Universités de Hambourg et de Cologne et a obtenu son premier examen d’Etat à Cologne en 1998. Il est également titulaire d’un master (LL.M) de la Boston University School of Law (2004), d’un master (LL.M.) du King’s College London School of Law (1999) et d’un diplôme en droit international public et en droit européen de l’Université Aix-Marseille III, Aix-en-Provence, France (1995).
