Alexander Troller elected member of the Bar Council in Geneva (March 2012)
30 March 2012The General Assembly of the Geneva Bar Association on 30 March 2012 elected Alexander Troller as a member of the Bar Council. Alexander Troller joined LALIVE in 1997 and became a partner in 2003. The Geneva Bar Association is a professional association bringing together more than 1300 members from some 350 law firms, i.e. the vast majority of Swiss and foreign lawyers and trainees practicing law in Geneva. The Association represents lawyers before the authorities, other Swiss bar associations as well as foreign bars. The Bar Council, which is comprised of nine members elected by the General Assembly for a three year term (renewable once), is the legislative and disciplinary body of the Bar Association, which it administers. The Council is chaired by a President (the Bâtonnier) and deals with all matters concerning the legal profession; it becomes involved in all issues related to the organization of the profession, its future and its development. The Bar Council also the organ responsible for liaising with the authorities and is regularly implicated in issues related to the administration of justice and its own administration.
