GAR Awards 2018: LALIVE confirms its ranking among the top arbitration practices worldwide

16 April 2018

At the eighth GAR awards ceremony held in Paris last week, Global Arbitration Review unveiled its annual ranking of the world’s leading international arbitration practices.  We are delighted that LALIVE earned 20th place among the leading arbitration practices worldwide.  In addition, LALIVE partner Domitille Baizeau won the prize for MostResponsive and Best Prepared Arbitrator.

In compiling its ranking of the top 30 firms, GAR ranked firms based on a number of factors, including the number of arbitral hearings conducted over a two-year period, hours billed to arbitration, the total amount in dispute and the number of arbitral appointments handled by firm members and the number of individuals who appear in GAR’s sister publication, Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration. LALIVE reported  a portfolio of cases as counsel valued at more than USD 16 billion, the highest number of arbitrator mandates (63) and 9 lawyers ranked in Who’s Who, more than some of the US and UK firms ranked above us in the GAR30 ranking, and the 6th highest number worldwide.

LALIVE remains the only non-global firm and the only firm based in a civil-law jurisdiction to have featured in every single edition of the GAR 30 since its inception and the only such firm in the top 20 this year. This ranking is an excellent achievement for our firm, consolidating our high international profile among the large international law firms.

The firm is also proud of the achievement of confirmed arbitration practitioner Domitille Baizeau, who acts both as counsel and arbitrator and who was recognized as the Most Responsive and Best Prepared Arbitrator for her work as President, Sole Arbitrator or co-arbitrator in the last 10 years in cases conducted under most of the major arbitration rules, including those of the ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, SCC and the Swiss Rules.
