1 March 2013

Global Arbitration Review (GAR) recently unveiled that it has again ranked LALIVE among the thirty most prestigious specialist arbitration firms worldwide.  The firm was ranked 16th in the 2013 edition of the annual GAR 30 survey, among large UK/US law firms operating through several offices worldwide, and ahead of any other firm in continental Europe.  In its GAR 30 editorial report, GAR highlighted LALIVE’s huge reputation in the field”, and stressed that the firm “continues to rule the roost in Switzerland”.

LALIVE is also the fifth-ranked firm in the world in terms of the number of lawyers selected by the International Who’s Who of Commercial Arbitration. With seven nominees, one more than in the 2012 edition, LALIVE is preceded in the rankings by only four large US/UK firms. The firm’s nominees were praised in the editorial as outstanding”, “first-class”, and “brilliant and very disciplined”. At the same time, Who’s Who Legal released its first country report on Switzerland, in which three additional lawyers are ranked for arbitration, bringing the total of LALIVE’s nominees to 10, the highest number in Switzerland by far.  The editorial describes the firm as being “recognised both at home and abroad for the quality of its lawyers.”  The individuals ranked in 2013 are Professor Pierre Lalive, Michael E. Schneider, Teresa Giovannini, Veijo Heiskanen, Matthias Scherer, Domitille Baizeau, Bernd Ehle, Noradèle Radjai, Joachim Knoll and Raphaëlle Favre-Schnyder.

LALIVE has similarly been recognised for many years as one of the best arbitration practices worldwide by major legal directories, including Chambers and Legal500, in which most of the firm’s arbitration partners are individually ranked. The firm is also recommended for several other practice areas, including litigation, business crime and asset recovery, corporate commercial law and energy.
