LALIVE compiles stories from leading arbitration practitioners

21 January 2015

In celebration of LALIVE co-founding partner Michael E. Schneider’s 75th birthday and brilliant career in international arbitration, LALIVE has edited the book “Stories from the Hearing Room: Experience from Arbitral Practice”, published by Wolters Kluwer.

This liber amicorum, edited by LALIVE partners Domitille Baizeau and Bernd Ehle, is a collection of thirty “war stories” written by leading arbitration practitioners worldwide who share their experiences working with and witnessing Michael E. Schneider in action. Through these experiences, they narrate entertaining anecdotes and solutions found to challenging situations in practice, in particular in the context of arbitration hearings. The essays serve to highlight Michael E. Schneider’s boundless energy, creative thinking and questioning of conventional ideas, as well as providing some valuable lessons about the practice of arbitration.

In addition to these stories, the volume also includes sixteen witty and thought-provoking messages prepared for the ASA Bulletin during Michael E. Schneider’s tenure as President of the Swiss Arbitration Association.

The volume is a reflection of how Michael E. Schneider’s exemplary career and dedication as counsel, arbitrator, academic and leader in arbitral institutions, has inspired and continues to inspire arbitration practitioners around the world.

The book is available from Wolters Kluwer. Further information can be found here.
