LALIVE holds Vis Pre-Moot rounds (February 2013)

13 February 2013

On 13 February 2013, and for the second year, LALIVE hosted pre-moot practice rounds at the firm’s Geneva office to prepare Swiss students for the 20th Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, to be held in Vienna on 22 to 28 March 2013. Dr Bernd Ehle, Guillaume Tattevin and Dr Johannes Landbrecht from the firm’s international arbitration team acted as arbitrators and heard teams from the Swiss Universities of Fribourg, Bern and Basel. The students presented oral argument in a fictitious dispute over the late delivery of polo shirts by a company alleged to have used child labour, arbitrated under the rules of the Chinese European Arbitration Centre (CEAC). This year’s Moot will again see close to 300 teams from more than 70 jurisdictions compete against each other. As per its website, the goal of the Vis Arbitration Moot “is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for resolution of international business disputes through its application to a concrete problem of a client and to train law leaders of tomorrow in methods of alternative dispute resolution.”
