LALIVE partner, Dr Veijo Heiskanen, re-appointed to the ICSID panel of arbitrators for second six-year term (January 2013)
31 January 2013Dr Veijo Heiskanen, a partner in LALIVE’s international arbitration group, has been appointed by the Finnish Government for a second six-year term on the panel of arbitrators of ICSID (International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes). ICSID appointments of tribunal presidents and members of annulment committees under the ICSID Convention are made from among the panel members. ICSID is an organisation set up under the auspices of the World Bank and is the world’s principal forum for investor-state arbitrations, which concern disputes arising under multilateral and bilateral investment treaties, national investment promotion legislation and investment contracts. ICSID arbitrations have for a long time formed an important part of LALIVE’s arbitration practice, members of the firm acting as counsel for host states or foreign investors, sitting as arbitrators and providing expertise. Professor Pierre Lalive was for many years on the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators appointed by the Swiss Government.
