Sports law: Matthias Scherer appointed to the panel of outside lawyers for the Disciplinary Board of the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (May 2013)

Matthias Scherer, a partner of LALIVE, was appointed on 9 May 2013 as one of the six outside members who will be called upon to sit of the Disciplinary Board of the Fédération internationale de Gymnastique (FIG).  As reported on its website, the FIG is the organization that governs world gymnastics, its rules and its competitions.  It is the sole authority recognized by the International Olympic Committee. Its Disciplinary Board deals with infringements to the FIG statutes, regulations and principles by FIG member federations, gymnasts and officials.  For each new dispute, the FIG designates one ordinary member of the Disciplinary Board and two outside members to sit on a 3-person panel.  Matthias Scherer is also the editor of the Swiss International Sports Arbitration Reports (SISAR).
