Isabel San Martín joined LALIVE in 2021 and specializes in International Arbitration and Public International Law. She has experience in commercial and investment treaty arbitrations under the ICSID, LCIA, UNCITRAL, SCC and CAIP Rules, with a particular focus on Latin America and Europe. Isabel has experience in a variety of sectors, including mining, renewable energy, construction and banking and finance. She also has experience in human rights law and other areas of Public International Law.
Prior to joining LALIVE, Isabel was an Associate in King & Spalding’s International Arbitration Group in Paris. Prior to that, Isabel worked as a Research Assistant at the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), and as a Policy Advisor at the Permanent Mission of Spain to the United Nations in New York, during Spain’s two-year membership of the UN Security Council (2015-2016). Isabel also trained in litigation and arbitration departments at top tier law firms in London and Madrid, and briefly worked at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in Washington D.C.
Isabel is a member of the Global Advisory Board of ICDR Y&I (International Centre for Dispute Resolution) (2020-2023), as well as a member of the Equal Representation in Arbitration Pledge Young Practitioners’ Subcommittee (2020-2022). She was also a member of the ICC’s Task Force on Arbitration of Climate Change Related Disputes (2018-2019).
