Juan Pablo Charris joined LALIVE in 2019 and specialises in international arbitration and public international law, including maritime boundary delimitation, law of the sea and human rights. He has represented private and sovereign entities across multiple jurisdictions in high-value and complex investor-State and international commercial arbitrations conducted under the auspices of the major arbitral rules, including ICSID, LCIA, ICC, SCC and UNCITRAL. He has experience on disputes in a wide range of industries and sectors, with a particular focus on infrastructure, energy, mining and natural resources disputes.

Prior to joining LALIVE, Juan Pablo worked as Judge’s Associate at the Colombian Constitutional Court and Council of State, where he gained insight into human rights claims and State responsibility. He has also completed internships at Three Crowns, Fietta and Debevoise & Plimpton’s international arbitration groups in London.

Juan Pablo holds a degree in law (LLB) and a Master of Science in public policy (MSc) from University Externado de Colombia. He also obtained a postgraduate certificate in administrative law (DSU) from Université Panthéon-Assas in Paris and holds a Master of Law (LLM) in international dispute resolution from King’s College London.
