Veijo Heiskanen embarks on new career as full-time arbitrator

LALIVE’s longstanding international arbitration partner Veijo Heiskanen has decided to embark on a new career as a full-time arbitrator, after more than 20 years at the firm. He leaves with the firm’s immense gratitude for his contributions and our very best wishes. As Domitille Baizeau, LALIVE’s Managing Partner says: ‘It is impossible to cite all of Veijo’s contributions over the years, but the growth and success of our international arbitration group over the last two decades is a testament to his legacy. We will miss him greatly as he follows this new path, even as he remains a great friend of the firm.’

Among his many career highlights as counsel, Veijo recently led the LALIVE team representing Romania against Canadian mining company Gabriel Resources, defeating the largest investment treaty claim ever faced by Romania, saving the State USD 6.7 billion in damages and securing a substantial cost award.
