Jean-Paul Vulliéty appointed Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Swiss Research Institute on commodities

LALIVE partner Jean-Paul Vulliéty has been appointed Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Swiss Research Institute on Commodities (SRIC), a joint initiative of the University of Geneva, the Canton of Geneva and the Swiss Government’s department of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with a number of associations active in the commodities industry, including the Swiss Trading and Shipping Association.

Given the considerable commodity trading activity in Geneva as a key hub for this sector, the SRIC has been created as a foundation and academic think-tank focused on commodities, aiming to provide a solid basis for decision making in the public and private sectors through the promotion of research in the area of commodity trading, trade finance and shipping. Furthermore, it provides an ideal discussion platform for an academic approach to the market.

Jean Paul Vulliéty’s appointment to the Scientific committee follows from his active engagement in the STSA since its inception, and is parallel to his role as a Full Professor at the University of Geneva and as co-director of the Master in International Trading.
