Alexander Hiller joined LALIVE as an associate in 2021. He specialises in international arbitration, including both commercial and investment treaty arbitration.
The majority of Alexander’s practice involves disputes relating to the Middle East. His experience includes acting in international arbitrations under the ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL and DIS rules and ad hoc arbitration, and extends to disputes relating to the construction, energy and technology sectors and distribution contracts.
Alexander is a member of several professional associations, including the Arab Regional Forum and the Arbitration Committee of the International Bar Association, as well as Young ICCA. He is also a founding member of the joint working group of the German Arbitration Institute (DIS) and the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA).
Alexander studied in Heidelberg and Cairo, passing his first and second state examinations in Heidelberg in 2015 and 2020, respectively. He worked as an assistant to Professor Omaia Elwan and holds a Ph.D. in arbitration from Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg (summa cum laude), which was funded by the International Max Planck Research School on Successful Dispute Resolution in International Law. Alexander was admitted to the Bar in Frankfurt on the Main in 2021. He lectures on international arbitration at the German University in Cairo.
