Caroline Duret joined LALIVE as a trainee in October 2022.
Before joining the firm, Caroline Duret obtained a PhD summa cum laude in Roman law at the University of Geneva under the guidance of Prof. Bénédict Winiger (2021). From 2015 to 2021, and after having been a student-assistant during her Master’s degree, she worked as a Research and Teaching assistant successively to Prof. Bénédict Winiger and to Prof. Doris Forster at the Department of Legal History and Legal and Political Doctrines at the University of Geneva. She was a regular lecturer on “Exercices de droit romain” to first-year law students.
Caroline Duret was a recipient of several scholarships (Boninchi, Fondation Zdenek and Michaela Bakala) and worked with Prof. Peter Garnsey at the University of Cambridge as a Visiting Student (2017-2018). She also had the opportunity to work as a researcher at the Istituto svizzero di Roma and the Istituto di diritto romano e dei diritti dell’Oriente mediterraneo e di storia del diritto at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (2017). The University of Geneva awarded her the Prix Joseph des Arts in 2022 for her thesis.
Caroline Duret obtained a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Legal Professions (2022), a Master’s in law (2015) and a Bachelor’s degree in law (2013) from the University of Geneva.
