Roopa Mathews joined LALIVE in 2021. Her main areas of practice are commercial and investment arbitration.
She has acted as counsel and tribunal secretary in several international arbitration proceedings under the ICC, ICSID, LCIA and FAI Rules. She has represented clients in complex disputes in various sectors, including the aerospace, chemical manufacturing, construction, and energy sectors.
Before joining LALIVE, Roopa Mathews was an associate with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s international arbitration team in Frankfurt (2018-2021) and a trainee solicitor in the London and Washington DC offices (2016-2018).
She is a lecturer in English law at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany.
She is a member of several arbitration associations, including the German Arbitration Institute (DIS and DIS-40) and the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA and ASA below 40).
Roopa Mathews holds an LL.B. from the University of Bristol and an LL.M. in Public International Law from the London School of Economics. She is qualified as a Solicitor-Advocate.
