Roopa Mathews joined LALIVE in 2021. Her main areas of practice are commercial and investment arbitration.
She has acted as counsel and tribunal secretary in several international arbitration proceedings under the ICC, ICSID and LCIA Rules. She has advised clients from a diverse range of sectors, including aerospace, chemical manufacturing, automotive and financial services.
She is a member of the German Arbitration Institute’s under 40 group (DIS-40), the Swiss Arbitration Association’s below 40 group (ASA below 40), the London Very Young Arbitration Practitioners Group (London VYAP), and ArbitralWomen.
Before joining LALIVE, Roopa Mathews was an associate with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s international arbitration team in Frankfurt (2018-2021) and a trainee solicitor in the London and Washington DC offices (2016-2018).
She is a lecturer in English law at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany.
Roopa Mathews holds an LL.B. from the University of Bristol and an LL.M. in Public International Law from the London School of Economics. She is qualified as a Solicitor-Advocate.
