Germany designates Joachim Knoll to the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators
We are pleased to report that LALIVE partner Joachim Knoll has been designated by Germany to the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators. The designation is for a period of six years.
ICSID – the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes – is the leading institution for the settlement of investment disputes between States and nationals of other States. Each State party to the ICSID Convention can designate four arbitrators and four conciliators to the respective ICSID Panels. ICSID appoints arbitrators from the Panel of Arbitrators when the parties do not agree or fail to make an appointment. ICSID also appoints all members of ICSID ad hoc Committees from that panel.
Joachim Knoll had previously been designated by Germany to the ICSID Panel of Conciliators. Together with LALIVE partner Matthias Scherer’s designation by Switzerland to the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators, Joachim Knoll’s designation to the same panel is further testament to his recognised expertise and experience in investment treaty arbitration, one of LALIVE’s key practice areas ever since the ICSID Convention took effect.
