LALIVE ANNOUNCES LATEST COUNSEL PROMOTIONS2 November 2023
The Partners are delighted to announce the promotion to Counsel of litigation associates Noémie Raetzo, Angelina Sgier, Anton Vallélian and Sébastien Zulian,and arbitration associate Luis Miguel Velarde Saffer, as of 1 January 2024.
Noémie Raetzo joined LALIVE’s Geneva office in 2017. She specialises in litigation, representing clients in both civil and criminal proceedings, with a focus on commercial disputes and fraud litigation, recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, as well as asset recovery.
Noémie holds a Master of Laws, a Certificate in Transnational Law and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Legal Professions from the University of Geneva. She also holds a Master in Business Administration from INSEAD. She was admitted to practise in Switzerland (Geneva) in 2016.
Angelina Sgier joined LALIVE’s Zurich office in 2020. She specialises in domestic and cross-border litigation in a broad range of matters, especially banking/commercial litigation and white-collar crime investigations, debt collection/insolvency law and related proceedings in the broader context of asset tracing and asset recovery.
Angelina holds Masters degrees from both the University of Zurich (summa cum laude) and the University of California Berkeley School of Law (High Honors/Dean’s list/top 10% of her class). She was admitted to practise in Switzerland (Zurich) in 2017.
Anton Vallélian joined LALIVE’s Geneva office in 2016. He too specialises in domestic and cross-border disputes. Anton also practises international arbitration and public international law, advising States and international organisations in matters of international responsibility, privileges and immunities.
Anton holds a Master of Laws (Prize for the Best Master’s Thesis), and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Legal Professions from the University of Geneva, as well as a Certificate in Transnational Law (Major of the 2011 promotion) from the University of Geneva, in collaboration with the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. He holds a PhD in public international law and human rights law (Dr. iur. SNSF Fellow; Harvard Law School Visiting Researcher) from the University of Geneva. He was admitted to practise in Switzerland (Geneva) in 2018.
Sébastien Zulian joined LALIVE in Geneva in 2017. He also specialises in domestic and cross-border litigation involving private clients and commercial law disputes, with a focus on inheritance and family business matters.
Sébastien holds an LL.M. from Columbia Law School, a bilingual Master in Economic Law from the Universities of Basel and Geneva, a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Legal Professions and a Certificate in Transnational law from the University of Geneva. He is a STEP affiliate member. He was admitted to practise in Switzerland (Geneva) in 2016.
Luis Miguel Velarde Saffer joined LALIVE’s Geneva office in 2022 after several years in a leading global firm in Paris. He specialises in international commercial and investment arbitration, with a particular focus on Latin America and Spain, and has experience across several industries, including mining, construction, energy and transport.
Luis Miguel holds a Degree in Law from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School. He was admitted to practise in Peru in 2010.
